We can all agree that the most important thing in a car is that it gets you from point A to point B. However, when buying a car, one of the goals for most people is to choose one that will do that with the least amount of hassle. Another is that it does for as long as possible. In that sense, you can expand your car’s durability by maintaining it regularly and driving it reasonably, but why not get a head start by choosing a reliable vehicle to buy? Let’s see which 5 car models have earned the title RELIABLE.
Note: You will always find experienced and trustworthy licensed mechanics in our auto shop in Hamilton to guide you
1) Honda Civic
The Honda Civic has a 2.0-liter base engine and a 1.5-liter turbo – both delivering good fuel economy, but turbo bringing more available power. The base engine noise is amplified by the continuously variable transmission, so it works better with turbo. The car is comfortable to ride in, with precise handling and spacious interior. On the other hand, its low stance and the lack of lumbar support in the front seats can cause discomfort when getting in and out of the car, as well as while driving. This substantial and capable compact car also has an intuitive infotainment system. The Honda Civic has been THE best-selling passenger car in Canada since 2013.
2) Toyota Camry
The standard Toyota Camry has a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine providing ample power and gets 32 mpg overall. It also has an 8-speed automatic transmission which is not as smooth as some may like. Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, but blind-spot warning is optional. While its Entune infotainment system is capable, it lacks Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility. Its handling is nimble, retaining comfortable, demeanor quiet. Even though the access to the car is a little difficult with its lower stance, the Toyota Camry is still one of the best mid-sized sedans and was 9th best-selling car in Canada in 2017.
3) Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 has prepared 2.7-liter and 3.5-liter turbo V6s and a 5.0-liter V8 for 2018 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both V6 turbo engines are quiet and effortless, while fuel economy is commendable. Despite the handling being graceless, the pickup remains secure. There is also pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control as well as an optional Sync 3 infotainment system available. The Ford F-series was THE best-selling vehicle in Canada in 2017.
4) Toyota 4Runner
The Toyota 4Runner is not your typical SUV. It has a rough-sounding 4.0-liter V6, which is quite powerful, as well as reasonably fuel-efficient. However, its handling is clumsy and the ride unsettled, especially in taking corners when the body noticeably leans. Getting in and out of the vehicle can be difficult as the 4Runner has a high step-in and a low ceiling which also makes the driver’s sitting position uncomfortable. However, ground clearance is generous and the part-time 4WD system includes a low range for tough off-road duty. Controls are simple, with big buttons and knobs, but modern electronic safety gear such as blind-spot monitoring and forward-collision warning is not available in the Toyota 4Runner.
5) Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V EX and above trims have a 190-hp, 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine combined with a CVT. Its fuel economy is impressive, handling nimble and surefooted, and the ride is firm and steady. Road noise is suppressed well with a cabin that is quiet considering the class of vehicle in question. The interior is very spacious and comfortable, especially the back seat. EX and above trims get a standard 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as standard automatic emergency braking and blind-spot warning. The Honda CR-V was the 8th best-selling vehicle in Canada in 2017.
